Whitna, also known as "the light children's sanctuary," is a small planet orbiting Mintaka in the Orion belt, serving as the capital of the three-star civilization of the Luminaries. This small planet boasts a rich abundance of minerals and is blessed with some of the most ethereal landscapes in the galaxy. As if that were not intriguing enough, Whitna hosts diverse fauna capable of levitating above the surface due to the gravitational pull of its three suns.

Discovery

While Whitna's status as the cradle of Luminary civilization remains unknown, it undeniably functions as the epicenter of their empire. Initially overlooked by the wider galaxy, the planet experienced a population surge driven by the discovery of Lumicite crystal deposits, both on its silicate surface and suspended above it. Luminaries regard Lumicite as a divine gift from Lumos, attributing almost magical metallurgical properties to the ore. This led to the flourishing of Luminary mining firms and the rapid establishment of sprawling metropolitan cities.

Whitna's terrain is diverse, featuring forests, mountains, volcanoes, savannas, and oceans.Even though Luminaries have terraformed the planet they have cultivated a harmonious coexistence with the planet's native ecosystems. A subterranean biosphere also exists in the Luminary mythology although very little is known about it.

Day and Night Cycle

Despite being only half the size of Earth, Whitna boasts twelve moons in orbit. The presence of three suns ensures perpetual daylight, with nights being a rare occurrence. However, when the suns do set, they synchronize, enveloping Whitna in the “Long Night”. During this rare occurrence, three or even four moons may grace the sky simultaneously, marking the advent of the annual "Sisters of Light Festival," a celebrated holiday among the Luminaries.

Flora and Fauna

Flora and Fauna

Flora and Fauna

Due to Whitna's lower gravity, most creatures have evolved to navigate the air with ease, except for the Luminaries. The Luminaries themselves, though humanoid, are believed to be not native to the planet. Due to the abundance of light the native biosphere has evolved to harness the power of light for survival and thus haven’t evolved any predatory behaviors, many species have also adapted highly reflective chrome-like texture of their skin.

One of the most domesticated creatures are the fayes, a chrome-skinned cat like small creatures with long tails which are often friendly and kept as pets by the Luminaries. The Luminaries also ride the colossal fables, large manatee-like creatures which are often seen traveling in herds similar to human usage of cows and horses.

The plants have a richness of varying colors and grow like skyscrapers with huge bulbs and provide the creatures much needed shade on the Whitna planet. Many of the shapes would appear strange to humans and the proportions are greater because of the lower gravity.

Whitna’s flora and fauna also has bioluminescent qualities as they can all harness the light and store it in their bodies to be used during the long nights. Whitna looks like a lush paradise by Earth standards during the day, but at night, virtually all life on the planet exhibits bioluminescent qualities. This luminous spectacle, contrasting with the non-bioluminescent Luminaries, solidifies the belief that Luminary species is not indigenous to Whitna.
